One of the main reasons that John decided to quit smoking was due to “a very scary hospital admission”. John suffers from COPD and due to another serious chest infection, he ended up being admitted to hospital after he had collapsed at home. The nursing team had said that his brain had been starved of oxygen and told us: “my oxygen levels were 61, when they should be in the range of 88 to 92, this was really frightening and enough to make me want to stop smoking”.
With the help of nicotine patches and regular face-to-face support at our Sunbeams clinic in Lupset, John is now proudly four weeks quit today!
Stopping smoking has had a huge impact on him and says he has more energy these days and can walk his dog a lot further. He said he still has the occasional craving but by changing up his old routines he finds this helps him take his mind off smoking.
Well done John and keep it going!
