Dean has successfully stopped smoking with the support of Yorkshire Smokefree in Wakefield. Here's his story in how own words...

"My main motivation to stop smoking was my step-granddaughter and a conversation with my vascular surgeon. Around six months ago, he told me that if I didn't quit smoking, I was at risk of having my leg amputated due to blocked arteries caused by smoking. That was the wake-up call I needed and made me realise it was time to make a change.

I found the whole process, from accessing the service to receiving support, easy and positive. My advisor was incredibly supportive and explained everything clearly, which gave me confidence that I was doing things the right way. I also found that Cytisine tablets worked exceptionally well for me and I still can't believe how effective it was.

I'm very proud of myself for going from smoking 30 cigarettes a day to none. I would encourage anyone thinking about quitting to speak with an advisor, seek support, and reach out for help, as it really helps to keep you accountable to yourself

After 50 years of smoking, I have finally stopped".

Congratulations on your quit, Dean. We wish you all the best for the future.
