Check out our set up in the station!
Joy and Sally from Kirklees Smokefree swapped their office scenery for the day when they set up a stop smoking stall in Dewsbury train station on September 9th. Our two advisers spent a packed day offering friendly advice to the public about how they can quit with Yorkshire Smokefree.
The day was made up of 2 sessions, altogether lasting from 7am until 4.30pm. The early start for our advisers meant that they could interact with commuters on their way to work.
Joy and Sally were able to point the public in the right direction for their quit journeys; providing details of clinics and venues throughout Kirklees that can support them.
Not only did we get the opportunity to mix with the public at the train station but Joy also established a link with the Leeds based voluntary organisation “Making Space.” They asked us if Yorkshire Smokefree would be happy to provide an information session about quitting smoking to their service users, many of whom have history of mental health issues. Great work, Joy!
