What made you decide to join Yorkshire Smokefree?

I was too dependent on cigarettes which was making me feel angry so I decided enough was enough, it was time to quit.

Did you experience any health issues that made you want to quit smoking?

I have bad blood pressure, depression, axniety and I'm borderline diabetic, all of which have given me the motivation to quit.

How has quitting smoking affected your life?

My health problems were starting to effect me a lot. Since quitting, I feel really happy and I've already booked a summer holiday with the money I've saved from stopping smoking! My breathing has improved massively too, which is great as I was starting to get very concerned about it.

How have the Yorkshire Smokefree team helped you quit?

My adviser has been really helpful and like a friend to me. They explained how Champix works and what to expect at every step of my quitting smoking journey.

What were the most positive changes you made to your lifestyle?

Stopping smoking! I was a smoker for 28 years and it felt like I would never defeat the addiction, but I've managed it!

What did you find most difficult and how did you overcome it?

The most difficult thing was having an alcoholic drink and not having a cigarette but I got through the cravings.

Has anything in particular helped you through your quit?

Yes, I love gardening so that helped me stay busy.

Is there anything that you feel particularly proud of, that you may not have been able to do before you quit smoking?

Yes, since quitting I am less anxious when meeting new people.
