Linda was first referred to Yorkshire Smokefree in Barnsley following a health scare and a stay in hospital. She'd been smoking for 50 years and had never previously tried to quit, so she was nervous and apprehensive about the service. She was unsure that she'd actually be able to quit.
After chatting to her advisor, Linda opted to try quitting with a nicotine inhalator and was really happy with how well it worked for her, helping her to overcome any cravings she had. She also said that chatting on a regular basis with Sarah, her advisor, was really helpful and that the chats were really enjoyable. She describes the service as "BRILLIANT".
When asked what she likes the most about being a non-smoker she said:
"I am feeling better with my breathing and stopping smoking has helped me. I am not coughing as much, my smokers cough has gone and I don’t smell of smoke anymore. My chest is better, I don’t get as many colds as I used to. Just Stay Strong, you can do it. If I can stop after smoking for 50 years anyone can give it a go."
Well done Linda! Your advisor Sarah is incredibly proud of you. Keep going and you'll keep seeing your health improving month after month.
