south yorkshire man quits smoking climbs snowdon south yorkshire

A big congratulations to Michael, who recently completed his programme at Yorkshire Smokefree! Having a prescription of Champix (a 12 week course of medication), helped push him over the line to achieve his goals and quit smoking. Here’s his story:

Michael’s Story

I started smoking at the age of 15 and by the time I was ready to quit, I was getting through a packet of cigarettes every day. During my 20s life changed and by the age of 25 I had stopped the partying and was saving up to buy a car; it was only a matter of time before I quit smoking too.

My one-to-one sessions were a great motivation and knowing someone was there who believed in me, remained positive and supported me throughout my journey was really humbling – I would definitely recommend the support I had to others who are wanting to stop smoking.

Since quitting, I have a new-found energy and my biggest achievement since has been climbing Wales’ tallest mountain – Mount Snowdon.  I was able to focus on building my fitness levels and was able to climb to the summit in seven hours, something I would not have been able to do if I’d still been smoking.
