Calderdale Stop Smoking Specialist Achieves ASIST Master Trainer Status

The Yorkshire Smokefree Team enjoys celebrating success, so we are delighted to announce that our Calderdale Stop Smoking Specialist, Susan Jones, has recently achieved ASIST master trainer status.

What is ASIST?

ASIST is a workshop that teaches suicide first aid skills, so it is an evidence based intervention (Applied Suicide Intervention Skills Training) and teaches people a model that will enable them to do a first aid type of intervention with a person who is thinking about suicide.

Sue trained in 2014, and then had to undergo a period of mentored delivery as a provisional trainer (3 workshops) before she could deliver as a full trainer.  She has now completed 10 workshops as a full trainer.

The course was developed by Livingworks Education in Calgary, Canada and there are now trainers worldwide.  Livingworks strictly monitor the quality of workshops and trainers via their standards and evaluation procedures.

Congratulations Sue! The entire team is incredibly proud of you!
