Have you decided that today is the day that you start your quit attempt? This week we had National No Smoking Day which may have been the day you decided to quit. Stopping smoking does not have to be stressful and by planning ahead you will soon start to reap the rewards both physically and mentally. Getting support is the key and whichever way you choose to become smoke-free there is a huge benefit in telling other people and getting them on board to help you with your quit attempt. It is important they support you buy not offering you tobacco when you tell them you are quitting.
Shouting it from the rooftops may not only help you but it may help other people as well. Why not dedicate your social media page to your quit attempt and people can leave helpful comments and messages of support Do a daily blog where you can brag to your friends about how well you are doing on each day of your quit attempt. This way you take it day by day and writing it down often clarifies to yourself how well you are doing. Celebrate your daily success and even the smallest of changes will make a difference.
Share your own hints and tips! What works for you may help someone else who may never have thought about brushing their teeth when they experience a craving. It worked for you so it may work for someone else too.
You may find that other friends and family soon join you and before you know it you are an influencer, encouraging other people to start their own quit attempt. This feeling of being in control is now growing and you are empowered and in turn, you can empower other people.
The best thing about sharing is that it can help you in difficult times too. So share the struggles as well as the positives of your quit attempt. Just a little understanding and encouragement from another person can go a long way to improve your day and keep you motivated. Share your goals so friends and family can help support you to achieve them!
