Illingworth U7’S Fundraiser / Stoptober Campaign 2017

Yorkshire Smokefree Calderdale joined up with Illingworth ARFL in order to support and highlight the Stoptober 2017 national campaign. With the success of last year’s partnership highlighting the Breathe 2025 campaign the aim was to continue to educate young people on the dangers of smoking.

We asked the children for their thoughts on smoking. Some of their answers are priceless.

 

 

The family fundraiser attracted a large variety of spectators from all backgrounds who predominately live or work within the North Halifax area. This was a great opportunity for our service to reach those from the area in a light-hearted way with the added opportunity of increasing referrals to our service during October and beyond.

We hope that by highlighting the campaign to families on the day we can encourage a new generation of non-smokers.  On the day, we had in the region of 60 children participating in the rugby tournament planned by Illingworth juniors.
