Joseph had been a long-time smoker before he attended weekly face-to-face appointments with Stop Smoking advisor Carrie as St Georges Community Centre in Wakefield. He was determined to quit and we are delighted that he is now officially 12 weeks smoke-free!
Congratulations on your quit, Joseph and keep up the hard work. You've done brilliantly.
Here's Joseph's story, in his own words:
"I found the stop smoking medication (tablets called Varenicline) helpful as well as the face-to-face appointments. Doing my carbon monoxide reading at every appointment gave me accountability and it really helped to keep my motivation going. I also felt the incentive scheme helped my quit attempt.
I have been smoking since I was age 11 and I just wanted that to change. It has also helped me financially by stopping smoking. I learned to manage any cravings and urges differently and read a book instead. I can also enjoy the taste of food much more without cigarettes. I like the way I smell now and when I smell cigarette smoke on other people, I think "I used to smell like that"!
