What was your reasons for stopping smoking?

I was taken ill with a bad chest. I just knew I had to stop smoking.

Have you stopped smoking previously?

Yes, I have tried but always went back to smoking. I always tried to stop on my own.

Before your first appointment, did you believe you would be successful?

No, I had my doubts.

Did you use stop smoking medication to help you quit and what did you use?

Yes, I used the patches and lozenges, they worked great for me.

How helpful did you find this?

Very helpful

Apart from medication, what else helped you to quit and stay smokefree?

My family, my friends the phone calls from Sarah my stop advisor really helped me to stay smokefree.

What do you like the most about being a non-smoker/quit?

I am breathing a lot better and enjoying my food, I have a lot more energy and more time on my hands.

Has your health improved since your quit and if so, in what ways?

Yes loads

Other than health, have you achieved anything since quitting that you couldn't do whilst smoking?

I go to my allotment more.

What have you found helpful whilst accessing Yorkshire Smokefree service?

The calls from Sarah my stop-smoking advisor, the patches and the lozenges I used have all been a massive help to me.

If I would have known then what I know now, I never would have started smoking.
