After quitting smoking for nine years, Craig found himself smoking again. But following a hernia operation and having previously suffered a heart attack, he knew it was time to make another positive change for his health. With support from Smokefree Sheffield, Craig has successfully quit again!

Craig had previously stopped smoking following his heart attack and managed to stay smokefree for an impressive nine years before taking up the habit again. Having quit successfully in the past, he knew he had the determination to do it again, but this time he welcomed a little extra support.

"I'd done it before, so I knew I could do it again with a little help," Craig explained.

With his wife also trying to stop smoking through the service, Craig was motivated to give quitting another go.

To help manage his cravings, Craig used nicotine replacement patches, which he found particularly effective at taking the edge off any cravings.

Alongside the patches, Craig credits his own determination for helping him stay on track. He also appreciated the convenience of attending a local Smokefree Sheffield clinic, making it easier to access the support he needed.

Since quitting, Craig has already noticed some positive changes. His sense of taste and smell has improved, and he's enjoying the added benefit of saving money by no longer buying cigarettes.

Although Craig was already an active person before quitting, he's pleased to be smokefree again and knows from experience that it's possible to succeed, even after returning to smoking.

When asked what advice he would give to someone thinking about stopping smoking, Craig had a simple but encouraging message:

"Just have a go!"

Craig's story is a great reminder that returning to smoking doesn't mean you can't quit again. With determination, the right stop smoking aids and support it's never too late to make a fresh start.
