There was a fantastic turn-up to the Rotherham Fire Station open day on Saturday - and we were a part of the action!
Our Rotherham and Doncaster Smokefree teams teamed up at the weekend to run a resource stand at the event.
The open day was open to the public and packed full of activities such as first aid training and fairground rides. Other stalls included the South Yorkshire Police, St Johns Ambulance and charity organisations. It was very well attended and it provided us with the perfect opportunity to interact with many families local to the area.
Stop Smoking Specialist Zahra and Advisor Rebecca reported back to us:
"It was a great way to raise the service profile and awareness for Stoptober. We helped so many people to quit last year and want this year to be even more successful. It also helps to know that we have various ways to help which are all free, telephone support, clinics across Rotherham as well the quit stop on Bridgegate in the town centre."
The event was a big success for our team! Picking up some referrals from visitors who were interested in quitting; our advisers did a fantastic job informing the public about the dangers of smoking, as well as how Yorkshire Smokefree can help support quitters during the upcoming Stoptober challenge.
We’d like to give a big thank you to Rotherham Fire Station for hosting the event and to our Smokefree teams for their hard work. Let’s make this October smoke-free!
