With help from the new NHS stop smoking service, Yorkshire Smokefree, hundreds of people in Sheffield every month are quitting smoking for good.
Yorkshire Smokefree, which is run by South West Yorkshire Partnership NHS Foundation Trust, makes it easy for smokers to kick the habit with its range of support which smokers can ‘pick and mix’ to suit their lifestyles.
To reward the efforts of local quitters Yorkshire Smokefree has teamed up with Sheffield Wednesday Football Club to giveaway free tickets to a home game to four lucky quitters.
Those who set a quit date for the national Stoptober campaign, and stayed smoke free for four weeks were entered into the special prize draw held on 24 November. The winners were each presented with tickets to the Owls home game against Wolves on 13 December.
Terry from Highfield was one of the lucky winners of Sheffield Wednesday match tickets, she said
“I came to the service with a friend to quit. It helped to come to the quit shop every week as it kept me focused.
“The advisers gave me a lot of encouragement and the information the advisers gave me was great, they were very supportive and flexible. I'm now seven weeks smoke free and winning these tickets felt fantastic!”
Claire Holden, service manager at Yorkshire Smokefree Sheffield said,
“Our tailored support means that you can find a way of quitting that suits you. Our online support is available 24/7, our friendly advisors are just a call away seven days a week and you can even have face to face support.
“Giving up smoking benefits your life in so many ways - from improving your health to leaving you with a bit of extra cash each month to do the things you enjoy. If you’ve been thinking about quitting for a while, or have been struggling to quit, just get in touch with us and we’ll help you quit for good.”
The Yorkshire Smokefree service is free, flexible and run by NHS experts who have already helped thousands of people across Yorkshire to stop smoking.
